While Murphy is the favourite to take home the prize, he faces stiff competition from Paul Giamatti for his performance in The Holdovers, along with Bradley Cooper (Maestro), Colman Domingo (Rustin) and Jeffrey Wright (American Fiction).
Other Irish people up for awards are cinematographer Robbie Ryan, as well as producers Andrew Lowe and Ed Guiney, for their work on the Emma Stone-starring Poor Things.

Leading the nominations, meanwhile, is Oppenheimer with 13 - followed by Poor Things with 11 and Killers of the Flower Moon with 10.
The highest-grossing film of last year - Barbie - has also scored a total of eight nominations.
Barbie, Killers of the Flower Moon, Oppenheimer and Poor Things are all competing for the Oscar Best Picture prize, alongside American Fiction, Anatomy of a Fall, The Holdovers, Maestro, Past Lives and The Zone of Interest.
There is no live red carpet broadcast from an Irish channel, but you can watch it live on ITV1 if you have Sky TV or Saorview. You may be able to watch the Oscars live on YouTube on the American network ABC.
You can also watch the best moments from the ceremony on Monday night from 9.35pm on RTÉ2.
