If you’re looking for the insiders scoop, Nora Twomey’s got you covered.

Anyone eager to stay on top of the Oscars tonight might want to head to Twitter as nominee and director Nora Twomey is documenting the event via the @Ireland page.

Twomey, whose animated feature The Breadwinner is up in the category of Best Animation, has already received a mass of critical acclaim on top of three major accolades, including Best Animation at the Los Angeles Film Critics Association awards.

The Breadwinner is the latest production from Kilkenny-based animation studio Cartoon Saloon, which has previously earned Oscar nominations for Song of the Sea and The Secret of Kells, and marks arguably the studio’s most ambitious work to date.

Produced by Angelina Jolie and Tomm Moore (writer and director of Song of the Sea and The Secret of Kells), The Breadwinner tells the story of Parvana, a young girl who must sacrifice everything she knows in order to save her family.

Fresh from scooping up the Cinema For Peace Award in the Justice category back in February, The Breadwinner will now be facing off competition from Loving Vincent, Pixar’s Coco, Ferdinand and… The Boss Baby, so really the only tough opposition should come from the first two.

Until then, follow Nora’s updates from Hollywood as she shares the latest from the red carpet, on top of a campaign to get her husband over on a flight, in defiance of the problematic weather conditions created by Storm Emma.
