Pamela Anderson, 55, unrecognisable in first trailer for Netflix documentary

Steve Hopkins

The documentary will premiere very soon on the streaming service.

Pamela Anderson looks unrecognisable in the first trailer for a new documentary on her life where she is being applauded by fans for telling her own story, in her own words.

Anderson, now 55, is as you’ve never seen her before in the documentary Pamela, A Love Story which drops on Netflix on 31 January, the same day her tell-all memoir ‘Love, Pamela’ is released.

The former Baywatch bombshell, who was recently the subject of a miniseries about her infamous sex tape, tells her story from her own perspective in the documentary, and says early on in the trailer: “I want to take control of the narrative for the first time.”

Fans of the celebrity will be shocked at how different and natural she looks compared to when she was at the height of her fame in the late 1990s.

The doc trailer begins with a shot of Pamela sitting outside by a fire, with a labrador.

“I didn’t sleep last night at all,” she says, before she comments on the stolen sex tape she made with her first husband, Tommy Lee, saying she “blocked” it out of her life “in order to survive”.

The story of the tape was recently dramatised in the miniseries Pam And Tommy starring Lily James and Sebastian Stan.

Anderson says in the trailer: “Now that it’s all coming up again, I feel sick”.

She also talks about how she was perceived over the course of her career and how she did not receive “a lot of respect”.

A clip is played of her being interviewed by Ruby Wax, in which she is asked: “Did you want to be a serious actress?”.

Pamela replies: “I am a serious actress!”

In another glimpse of her public image, she is briefly seen playing bimbo Heather Biblow on The Nanny starring Fran Drescher.

“I had to make a career out of the pieces left, but I’m not the damsel in distress,” Pamela says in voiceover.

“I put myself in crazy situations and survived them,” she adds as footage is played of her various ventures, including what appeared to be one of her practices for Celebrity Boxing.

Pamela, who in recent years has been known for her friendship with Julian Assange, is also seen being interviewed by Jay Leno on late-night TV and talks about her failed marriages. She has been married five times.

“Some men think: ‘Oh, she’s a Playboy thing, or the sexual person,’ and they hate you for being something else,” she says over a montage of her magazine covers.

In another telling flash of footage, Pamela is seen telling Piers Morgan on television about her love life: “One man can’t do it all.”

As the trailer for her upcoming documentary draws to a close, she wonders aloud: “Why can’t we be the heroes of our own life story?”

And near the end, she jokes: “Maybe I just do all the interviews naked. There’s no mystery here!”
