The Parks and Recreation Department is getting together one last time to raise money for the Covid-19 response.

NBC’s beloved sitcom, which ended in 2015 after seven seasons, is set to broadcast a special episode on 30 April that will see Leslie Knope (played by Amy Poehler) trying to stay in touch with her friends in the era of social distancing.

Poehler will be enjoyed by pretty much the entire cast off the show – including Amy Poehler, Nick Offerman, Rashida Jones, Aziz Ansari, Aubrey Plaza, Chris Pratt, Rob Lowe, Jim O’Heir, Adam Scott and Retta. Special guests have also been promised.

The show has a script, and will run for 30 minutes.

“Like a lot of other people, we were looking for ways to help and felt that bringing these characters back for a night could raise some money,” said showrunner Michael Schur (who also created The Good Place and Brooklyn Nine-Nine). He said that all cast members responded to his proposal within 45 minutes.

The show has undoubtedly won over a rake of new Irish fans since it was added to Sky Comedy in the last few months, so we’re very excited to see what happens with the reunion.

The show will be looking to raise funds for Feeding America’s Covid-19 Response Fund, while NBCUniversal, as well as the cast and producers of Parks and Rec, have pledged $500,000 in matching donations. Insurance company State Farm and car company Subaru are also donating $150,000 each.

The latest official death toll due to coronavirus in the United States stands at over 42,000 people.
