Peaky Blinders fans really want Snatch star to play Al Capone in Season 5

Paul Moore

He played him in Boardwalk Empire and has strong ties with the Peaky Blinders creator.

With further confirmation that Season 5 of Peaky Blinders is coming – that wait until 2019 seems so long! – fans of Steven Knight’s gangster epic have already started speculating about what the next season might involve.

As stated previously, Knight has always planned for the show to end as the first siren for WW2 blares but with speculation growing that another season and a film are possibilities, we might not be done with the Shelby family yet.

As the dust settles on their vendetta against the Mafia, it’s clear that Knight wants to expand the scope and scale of Peaky Blinders. After conquering the UK, the Blinders have now turned their attention across the Atlantic as they aim to make inroads in the US.

We now know that Tommy plans on expanding The Shelby Corporation into the US by taking advantage of their strict Prohibition Act –  laws which banned the sale of alcoholic beverages with an alcohol content of greater than 1.28%.

Tommy might be new to the alcohol industry but he’s a very clever man when it comes to making business deals – Luca Changretta can testify to that! – and his potential new partner has got fans of the show very, very excited.

Ladies and gents, the Peaky Blinders might be about to meet Al Capone.

In recent years, we’ve seen some superb acting talent like Cillian Murphy, Helen McCrory, Paul Anderson, Paddy Considine, Sam Neill, Tom Hardy, Adrien Brody, Aidan Gillen and much more starring in the show, but there’s one man that the Peaky Blinders fans unanimously want to play Capone.

In Boardwalk Empire, Stephen Graham was utterly captivating as the infamous mobster, crime boss, and businessman who attained notoriety during the Prohibition era. Much like his superb performance in This Is England, the actor brings remarkable intensity, menace, and quiet aggression whenever he’s on screen.

In fact, Graham has already worked with Steven Knight on Taboo so it’s fair to say that the two men are very familiar with each other.

Could this crossover happen? Peaky Blinders fans are desperate to see it.

While nothing is known about Season 5 – and we wouldn’t put it past Knight to throw in a few curveballs- fans of the show are already very excited about the prospect of Graham joining Peaky Blinders.
