Hopefully the ceremony itself wasn’t as violent as some of the Shelby gatherings.
Easily one of the best TV shows of the last few years, the effect that Peaky Blinders has had on popular culture in that time has been very noticeable indeed.
Listen closely enough, for example, and you’ll hear ‘By order of the Peaky Blinders’ shouted in bad Brummy accents in a pub on a night out, while the 1920s get-ups worn by Tommy Shelby and others are most definitely in fashion at the moment.
Taking the show as his inspiration, Carlow town resident Colm planned a Peaky Blinders style wedding to the love of his life, Jane, which features in Monday night’s episode of Don’t Tell the Bride.
Gangsters, gambling, throwback 1920s suits and a wedding reception in a race track, with curry chips on the menu, Colm’s plans for the wedding wouldn’t necessarily correspond with the dreams of every bride, but we’ll find out tonight whether it made the impression he desired.

Hopefully, Jane will avoid meting out some Shelby-style justice if it doesn’t go to plan.
