Narcos fans are currently binging on Season 2 of the Pablo Escobar inspired saga, but just like most films and TV shows that are based on larger than life personalities, the truth can be stranger than fiction.

For example; the herd of hippopotamuses that were once owned by the Colombian drug baron somehow managed to take over the countryside near his former ranch – and no one knows what to do with them.

We’re not sure if Escobar ran drugs out of the Limerick mountains though. If you believe his Wikipedia page then it’s possible.

Of course, there’s only one 100% factually correct guide to the history of Limerick.
