Countdown makes for perfect afternoon viewing for a number of reasons: it stimulates the brain, it often throws up some interesting characters, rude words have a habit of unintentionally popping up occasionally and Rachel Reilly is not bad to look at.

The most exciting part for many viewers – because TV doesn’t get more exciting than Countdown after all – is the numbers game that contestants take part in twice throughout a show by attempting to calculate a randomly generated number using numbers picked out by the lovely Rachel on the board.

Often times, it proves impossible or damn near impossible to solve. Today was not one of those times…

To save you from embarrassment, this is how you arrive at the figure in question…

(10 x 9) – 1 = 89
89 x 10 = 890
890 + 100 = 990
990 / 3 = 330

Or, you know, you could just go for 100+10 x 3 or 100 x 3 and add the rest of the numbers together in order; your choice.

Hat-tip to Colm McGleenan for sending this one our way
