There’s something poetic about Tedfest and Eurosong happening on the same weekend.

As the revellers gather on Inis Mór for the 9th instalment of the festival, A Song For Europe Eurosong will broadcast live to the nation on The Late Late Show tonight.

It’s ostensibly a song contest, but if the last few years have been anything to go by, it’s the sideshows that have caught the eye.

Who could forget the fizzing sexual chemistry in the Billy McGuinness/Linda Martin face-off?

This year the hopefuls include an all-Swedish entry which, as you can imagine, looks a tad strange in the Irish Eurosong.

Erika Selin will sing Break Me Up and her backing band, Timoteij, have been in RTÉ today doing press.

We’d like to express our sympathy to reporter Colm Flynn at this difficult moment in his career.

The Eurosong discussion panel will comprise of Panti, Linda Martin, Phil Coulter and Mairead Farrell.
