Prepare the Acme rocket because a Wile E. Coyote film is happening

Paul Moore

Wile E. Coyote

Beep, beep. Coyote vs. Acme has now landed a director.

It’s the strain, the eternal struggle, the cocksure confidence that the plan is definitely going to work, the sheer belief that this time it’s going to be different, and the elaborate traps that always – and quite literally – backfire.

Put these things together and it’s arguably the greatest long-running cartoon of all time.O

Of course, it’s the Wile E. Coyote vs the Road Runner and it’s still a cartoon of the highest quality and laughs.

Well, the beloved cartoon characters are set to make the leap onto the big screen.

Variety have reported that Dave Green (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows) will direct a live action-animation hybrid which features the iconic Looney Tunes characters.

Having first appeared in 1949 in Fast and Furry-ous, the dialogue-free Coyote character has become a cult hero for triers everywhere. On top of this, their antics continue to thrill audiences of all ages because the visual gags are just so good.

Chris McKay (director of Lego Batman), and screenwriters Jon and Josh Silberman (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia), will be producing Coyote vs Acme.

The same report also states that Warner Animation Group is keen on reviving other beloved characters too.

We already know that a sequel to Space Jam is coming, while a new feature that’s based on Tom and Jerry is also in the works.

Bring it on.

Beep, beep!
