Prime Video

A great viewing weekend ahead for Prime Video subscribers.

Earlier this week, Prime Video added one of the very best shows of 2023 so far, but as if that wasn’t enough, the streaming service has also added 27 new movies to its library. We’ve listed all of the new Prime Video additions in alphabetical order below, starting with…

3 DAYS TO KILL

Kevin Costner plays a retired spy who is forced into one final job. Amber Heard, Hailee Steinfeld and Connie Nielsen co-star.

THE ACCIDENTAL HUSBAND

Uma Thurman, Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Colin Firth star in this rom-com with a whopping 6% on Rotten Tomatoes.

BASTILLE DAY

Richard Madden is a pickpocket mistaken for a terrorist, so CIA agent Idris Elba tries to use him to find the real one. Meh.

BLADE / BLADE II / BLADE TRINITY

The entire vampire trilogy has been added to Prime Video. The first two are incredible. The third one is shockingly bad.

BROOKLYN’S FINEST

The director of Training Day tries to recapture that magic, with Richard Gere, Ethan Hawke, Wesley Snipes and Don Cheadle, but it doesn’t quite work.

CAROL

One of the most achingly romantic and beautiful dramas of the 21st century, with Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara portraying two women who fall in love at a time when their same-sex relationship was very much frowned upon.

DIRTY DANCING

“Nobody puts Baby in the corner.”

DUNKIRK

Christopher Nolan’s brilliant WWII epic puts a tremendous ticking clock element to events that we already know the ending to.

EIGHTH GRADE

Bo Burnham wrote and directed this tremendous comedy drama about a teenage girl trying to find her place in the world.

FAIR GAME

The director of The Bourne Identity tackles this tense true-life thriller, starring Naomi Watts and Sean Penn.

GAMBIT

The Coen Brothers wrote the script to this terrible heist movie, starring Colin Firth, Cameron Diaz, Stanley Tucci and Alan Rickman.

GREMLINS / GREMLINS 2: THE NEW BATCH

The monster-filled horror-comedy duo are both added to Prime Video this week. Obviously we know the original is tremendous, but the sequel is actually kind of an underappreciated meta gem.

THE IMITATION GAME

Benedict Cumberbatch plays the real life genius Alan Turing who helped crack a vital code and change the course of WWII, only to become a target by his own government when his sexuality was revealed.

JUST FRIENDS

A brilliant romantic comedy with Ryan Reynolds, Amy Smart, Anna Faris and Chris Klein.

LETTERS TO JULIET

A cute but forgettable romantic drama, with a young woman (Amanda Seyfried) on holiday in Italy, discovering an undelivered romantic letter, and deciding to get them to their rightful owner.

LIFE AS WE KNOW IT

After a disastrous first date, two single people (Katherine Heigl and Josh Duhamel) have their lives turned upside down when they are suddenly asked to share custody of the child of their mutual friends.

MOTHER AND CHILD

Annette Bening, Samuel L. Jackson, Naomi Watts and Kerry Washington star in this 2009 drama we’d literally never heard of before. 78% on Rotten Tomatoes means it is probably worth a shot!

THE PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER

A very good teen rom-dram with Logan Lerman, Emma Watson, Ezra Miller and Paul Rudd.

POSEIDON

The 2006 remake of the epic disaster movie has a decent cast and big budget. It isn’t a good movie, but it is a fun movie.

SAFE HAVEN

A movie based on a book by the same author as The Notebook. Features one of the most bonkers endings ever.

TAMMY

One of the many unfunny Melissa McCarthy movies directed by her husband.

TED / TED 2

Mark Wahlberg and the-guy-who-voices-Peter-in-Family-Guy-except-here-he-is-a-living-teddy-bear. Both of the movies have been added to Prime Video this week. The first one is funny. The second one is not.

WAR DOGS

In between directing The Hangover and Joker, director Todd Phillips took on this true story of a pair of petty gun dealers (Jonah Hill and Miles Teller) who happen to land a multi-million dollar contract with the US government.
