It is apparently the 10th best reviewed show of 2023 so far.
The new Prime Video addition, I'm A Virgo, just missed out on our round up of the best shows of 2023 so far, quite simply because we didn't have the time to watch it before the halfway point of the year.
The fantasy-comedy-drama tells the story of Cootie (Jharrel Jerome), a 13-foot-tall man, who escapes from his over-protective home to experience the beauty and contradictions of the real world. Here he forms friendships, finds love, navigates awkward situations, and encounters his idol named The Hero (Walton Goggins).
Created and directed by Boots Riley, who was behind 2018's brilliant movie Sorry To Bother You, you can check out the trailer for the show right here:
According to review aggregate site Metacritic, I'm A Virgo is currently the joint 10th best reviewed show of 2023, a position shared with Beef: Season One and The Other Two: Season Three. Check out some of the glowing reviews right here:
The Independent - "I’m a Virgo is not just one of the best comedies of the year so far, but one of the most urgent, intense pieces of television in recent years."
The New York Times - "Riotous and urgent, “I’m a Virgo” is hardly the most subtle show of the year. It is, by its own definition, propaganda. But it is absolutely art."
The Guardian - "I’m a Virgo is as fresh and invigorating as a cold shower. It wakes you up, makes you alert, makes you engage with it in a way few dramas do by giving you something boldly, undeniably different. And vigorous and clever and fun and performed by a young cast who seem to be already at the top of their games."
All seven episodes of I'm A Virgo are available to watch on Amazon Prime Video right now.
