Amazon Prime Video has just added 38 very big movies to its library
Prime Video has just added LOADS of new movies for you to enjoy.
Action, comedy, horror, drama, musicals, animation... pretty much whatever genre you're looking for, the new Prime Video additions provide.
Now, whether they're actually all any good or not, that is a completely different question...
ANGEL HAS FALLEN / LONDON HAS FALLEN / OLYMPUS HAS FALLEN
The trilogy of Gerard Butler Protects The President action movies. Olympus is the best one.
THE ANGRIEST MAN IN BROOKLYN
A dark comedy in which a perpetually angry man (Robin Williams) is told he has 90 minutes to live. It scored a horrific 9% on Rotten Tomatoes.
BAYWATCH
Zac Efron and Dwayne Johnson headline this action comedy based on the hit TV show. It isn't very good.
THE BOOK OF ELI
A very grey action-thriller, starring Denzel Washington in the post-apocalypse, attempting to keep an important book out of the wrong hands.
COUNTRY STRONG
Gwyneth Paltrow headlines this musical-romantic-drama about a touring singer, her new lover and her soon-to-be-ex-husband.
DADDY'S HOME / DADDY'S HOME 2
Go watch The Other Guys instead, Ferrell and Wahlberg are much funnier in that one.
EVOLUTION
The creators of Ghostbusters try to do with aliens what they had successfully achieved with the supernatural. It only kinda works.
EXODUS: GODS AND KINGS
A visually resplendent but otherwise kinda dull action epic, with Christian Bale as Moses.
FRIENDS WITH BENEFITS
Can two very attractive friends (Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake) be each other's sex buddies without getting any emotional connections? Spoiler: No.
GAMER
Gerard Butler is a prisoner in a futuristic prison, where you can potentially get your freedom in exchange for allowing yourself to be controlled in a real-life video game. A good idea, not very well executed.
HORRIBLE BOSSES / HORRIBLE BOSSES 2
They're actually both kinda funny.
IMPERIUM
Daniel Radcliffe plays an undercover FBI agent in a group of white extremists in this very good thriller.
INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL
This one just gets worse with age, doesn't it?
INDIANA JONES AND THE LAST CRUSADE
Unlike this one, which was considered the worst of the franchise for ages, but is now seen by some as the best.
INSTANT FAMILY
Rose Byrne and Mark Wahlberg star in this very watchable comedy drama about a couple who adopt a teenage girl, only to discover she has two more siblings out there.
THE IRON GIANT
One of the greatest animated movies of all time.
IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE
One of the greatest Christmas movies of all time.
JACK REACHER / JACK REACHER: NEVER GO BACK
The first one is really, really great. The second one is really, really terrible.
KING ARTHUR: LEGEND OF THE SWORD
Guy Richie tries to make King Arthur cool by hiring that guy from Sons Of Anarchy to play him. It doesn't go accordingly to plan.
LOCKED DOWN
Literally made during the pandemic lock down, Mr. & Mrs. Smith director got Anne Hathaway and Chiwetel Ejiofor together for a heist movie.
THE LOST BOYS
A classic 80s horror movie about teenage vampires bringing chaos to a small town.
THE MAIDEN HEIST
One of those movies that pops up on Prime Video that we've never heard before, but it stars Morgan Freeman, Christopher Walken and William H. Macy, and is a comedy heist movie. It doesn't even have a score on Rotten Tomatoes, so watching this is entirely at your own risk.
NON-STOP
Liam Neeson tries to stop terrorists from killing passengers on board a flight. A decent enough action-thriller-mystery.
NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH
We've never heard of this one before either, but apparently it is very good (82% on Rotten Tomatoes). A journalist (Kate Beckinsale) is put in prison when she refuses to reveal her source within the CIA. David Schwimmer, Vera Farmiga, Angela Bassett and Matt Dillon co-star.
PLANES, TRAINS AND AUTOMOBILES
Steve Martin and John Candy star in one of the best road-trip movies of all time.
THE READER
Kate Winslet plays a woman who begins a relationship with a teenage boy, until one day she suddenly goes missing, and the two are reunited many years later, at a trial where she is accused of being a Nazi guard during WWII.
RUN ALL NIGHT
Liam Neeson again, this time going on the run with his son (Joel Kinnaman), when a mobster (Ed Harris) puts a hit out on him.
THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION
Widely considered to be one of the very best movies ever made. At the time of writing, only available on Prime Video. So there's that.
SOUTH PARK: BIGGER, LONGER & UNCUT
The movie version of the show. Canada. The Devil. Saddam. All of that stuff.
ST. VINCENT
Bill Murray is the cranky neighbour to Melissa McCarthy, but he develops a lovely bond with her young son.
SUCKER PUNCH
Before he started taking over the DC Universe, Zack Snyder directed this gorgeous but hollow action thriller about a group of patients attempting to escape a mental institution.
TWO WEEKS NOTICE
Sandra Bullock and Hugh Grant have really good chemistry in this decent rom-com.
WILD WILD WEST
Will Smith turned down The Matrix to make this instead. Whoops.
