Amazon Prime Video has just quietly added 19 big movies to its library

Rory Cashin

Including two of the most overlooked cinema releases of the last six months.

On top of revealing their impressive line-up of new additions arriving in their library this June, the folks at Amazon Prime Video have also just added 19 big movies to the streaming service.

Starting with…

C’MON C’MON

Joaquin Phoenix headlines this brilliant drama (93% on Rotten Tomatoes) about an uncle who heads off on a roadtrip with his very energetic nephew.

THE DEVIL’S OWN

Brad Pitt and Harrison Ford and Brad Pitt’s attempts at a Northern Ireland accent star in this thriller about a police officer discovering an IRA member in hiding.

EMERGENCY

One of 2022’s best hidden gem comedies.

ENEMY OF THE STATE

Will Smith stars in this action-packed paranoia thriller about a regular man who suddenly finds himself the target of the entire US government.

FACE/OFF

John Travolta and Nic Cage star in one of the greatest action movies of all time.

FLIGHTPLAN

A mother (Jodie Foster) wakes up mid-flight and finds her young daughter missing, but nobody else on board the plane saw the girl…

THE FULL MONTY

A couple of down-on-their-luck guys in middle England turn to stripping in order to make some cash for them and their families.

GOLD

In the not-too-distant future, two men (one of whom is Zac Efron) discover a huge gold nugget in the middle of the desert. Efron stays behind to defend it while the other finds a way to transport it. But has he been left behind to die?

GOOD MORNING VIETNAM

Robin Williams was nominated for an Oscar for his role in this comedy drama about a DJ who has been assigned to work in Vietnam during the height of the war.

THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL

One of the best movies by director Wes Anderson, paired with perfect leading man Ralph Fiennes, who plays the concierge of a high-end hotel and goes on the run when he is accused of murdering one of his rich guests.

HANCOCK

Will Smith again, this time playing a superhero with a PR problem. Enter Jason Bateman, who decides to try to help out the most powerful man on the planet.

HIGH FIDELITY

A rom-com all about break-ups, with John Cusack as a record-shop owner looking back on the most important relationships in his life. Great soundtrack!

HOT TUB TIME MACHINE

A group of best pals (including John Cusack, again!) go on a trip together and, yep, venture through a hot tub time machine that sends them back into the bodies of their teenage selves.

JENNIFER’S BODY

A brilliant and underrated horror-comedy, featuring a stellar turn by Megan Fox as a teenage girl who is turned into a murderous demon when a satanic ritual goes wrong.

JOHNNY MNEMONIC

Before he starred in The Matrix, here is Keanu Reeves in one of the worst sci-fi action movies of all time. Accidentally entertaining.

JUNO

A teenager (Elliot Paige) becomes pregnant. The parents don’t approve of the boyfriend (Michael Cera). A very decent teen rom-com with a great supporting cast.

KING ARTHUR

The one with Clive Owen and Keira Knightley. It is… watchable. But that’s about it.

THE QUIET

When a deaf girl (Camilla Belle) moves in with her aunt and uncle after her parents are killed, she soon discovers that their cruel daughter (Elisha Cuthbert) may be holding some big family secrets.

SCENES OF A SEXUAL NATURE

Tom Hardy, Ewan McGregor, Andrew Lincoln, Mark Strong, Catherine Tate and loads more star in this rom-com-dram about a group of strangers and lovers, and their interactions in one small part of London.
