Prime Video has just added 16 big movies to its library
Some great new additions for Prime Video subscribers this week.
Prime Video has added loads of comedies, thrillers, action, sci-fi and even stuff for the whole family to enjoy.
BLACK BEAR
This darkly comic thriller sees a filmmaker (Aubrey Plaza) with a creative block try to manipulate her house mates (Sarah Gadon and Christopher Abbott) into making their lives into a work of art. 89% on Rotten Tomatoes.
BODY OF LIES
The director of Gladiator, the writer of The Departed, a cast including Leonardo DiCaprio and Russell Crowe, but the end result is far more average than those elements combined.
BREACH
Bruce Willis stars in this low-budget 2020 sci-fi actioner with 19% on Rotten Tomatoes. Probably for the best to avoid it completely.
COME TO DADDY
Another very decent, darkly comic thriller, about a man (Elijah Wood) who is looking forward to being reunited with his father for the first time in 30 years, but quickly discovers there is a reason why he was missing from his life for so long.
JACK RYAN: SHADOW RECRUIT
Chris Pine takes up the secret agent mantle in this entertaining action thriller directed by Kenneth Branagh, who also stars as the movie's villain.
JIU JITSU
Here is the official synopsis: "Every six years, an ancient order of jiu-jitsu fighters joins forces to battle a vicious race of alien invaders." It stars Nicolas Cage, Frank Grillo, Tony Jaa and Rick Yune. Sounds like perfect so-bad-its-great material.
JOHNNY MNEMONIC
Before he did The Matrix, Keanu Reeves tried his hand at cyberpunk action with this awful movie about a delivery man carrying a data file too big to fit in his brain.
KING RICHARD
The movie that won Will Smith his Oscar, but also was essentially the reason why The Slap happened.
THE MATRIX RESURRECTIONS
Speaking of The Matrix, the fourth movie from the series has been added to Prime Video. It wasn't super well received upon release, but we have a feeling this will be a prime candidate for a huge reappraisal once enough time has passed.
Jonathan Groff goes full villain in The Matrix Resurrections, a new Prime Video addition this week
RATCHET & CLANK
Before The Super Mario Bros. decimated the global box office this year, PlayStation tried something similar with their animated mascots in 2016. It didn't go nearly as well.
SAVE THE LAST DANCE 2
We didn't know this had a sequel. We looked into it, in some countries, this sequel is called Stepping Up, which feels like cheating. But it does have a higher-than-expected 49% on Rotten Tomatoes... so... there's that.
SAVING PRIVATE RYAN
Recently celebrated its 25th anniversary of release, and still features the greatest opening scene ever.
SHOOTER
Mark Wahlberg is a highly trained sniper, who is hired to protect the President from snipers, only for the President to be killed by a sniper, and Wahlberg is the main suspect! Dun dun DUUUUNNNN!
SITTING IN BARS WITH CAKE
A Prime Video exclusive, this cute rom-com-dram has some very decent reviews.
SUPER SIZE ME 2: HOLY CHICKEN!
Tackling the subject from a new angle, the guy who ate all of that McDonalds first time around has bought a chicken restaurant to explore the industry claims that it is now much healthier than it used to be. Just don't watch this while you're having your dinner.
VALERIAN AND THE CITY OF A THOUSAND PLANETS
An absolutely gorgeous but also kinda very dull sci-fi action thriller with an impressive cast (Dane DeHaan, Cara Delevingne, Clive Owen, Ethan Hawke, Rutger Hauer) that still has the entire movie stolen by a single scene featuring Rihanna.
