Saturday.
Saturday usually means a good mix of movies on TV, right?
Well, that remains to be seen.
Let’s check it out – here’s the most eye-catching options available on your TV on Saturday, 12 March…
The Bourne Identity – ITV4 – 8pm
The first one.
Mission: Impossible III – Film4 – 9pm
The third one, featuring arguably the best villain of the entire series in the form of the late, absolutely brilliant Philip Seymour Hoffman.
Fast & Furious 6 – ITV2 – 9pm
The sixth one.
Batman Begins – Sky Showcase – 9pm
The first one, if you’re talking about the Christopher Nolan trilogy.
This writer says it’s the most enjoyable of the three.
Yes, better than The Dark Knight.
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood – Channel 4 – 9pm
Our main choice this evening.
Quentin Tarantino takes us back to Hollywood in the late 1960s for a truly incredible hangout movie.
Leonardo DiCaprio plays a down-on-his-luck fading actor who just needs a break.
Brad Pitt, in an Oscar-winning turn, plays his stuntman and one true friend.
Margot Robbie’s Sharon Tate casts a long shadow in the background.
Storylines converge, Tarantino takes liberties, the music and visuals are spellbinding.
Despite some scenes of outright horror, this is arguably Tarantino’s sweetest and most emotional film; a clear love letter to the world of movies and strangely respectful to real-life events, all things considered.
And yes, it’s his best film.
Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves – RTÉ 2 – 9.30pm
Kevin Costner IS Robin Hood.
JFK – TG4 – 10.05pm
