Bohemian Rhapsody star Rami Malek will feature in a new documentary about Queen

Bohemian Rhapsody

A real treat for Queen fans.

After winning the Oscar for his mesmeric performance as Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody, Rami Malek was quick to praise the phenomenal talent of the Freddie Mercury-led band.

“Thank you Queen. Thank you guys for allowing me to be the tiniest part in your phenomenal, extraordinary legacy. I am forever in your debt,” said Malek, and it appears that he’s not quite done yet with the rock ‘n roll icons.

That’s because the story of Queen and Adam Lambert’s rise to fame with the band will be the subject of a new two-hour documentary that will air on ABC on 29 April.

If you watched the Oscars, at the start of the show, you’ll have noticed Lambert singing with the likes of Brian May and Roger Taylor, but this isn’t a rare occurrence.

Since coming to prominence after the 2009 season of American Idol, where he sang ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’, Lambert has frequently toured with the band and they’re set to embark upon a tour very soon.

The upcoming documentary will be called The Show Must Go On: The Queen and Adam Lambert Story, and it will feature interviews with band members, along with Bohemian Rhapsody star Rami Malek and Taylor Hawkins of Foo Fighters.

The documentary will also include “rare concert footage and exclusive, revealing portraits of the band members offstage”.

While it’s obvious that nobody can ever replace Freddie Mercury, the recent success of Bohemian Rhapsody has shown that there’s still an insatiable appetite for Queen’s music.

At present, no official date has been announced for the documentary to air in Ireland but we think that a few broadcasters will be under pressure to show it because right now, it appears that nobody wants to break free from the story of the iconic rockers.

It’s a kind of magic, eh?
