Starring one of the greatest actors alive, the film is also easily available to stream.
Our TV movie pick for tonight (Wednesday, 18 September) is Red, the tense 2008 revenge thriller starring Brian Cox of Succession fame.
Not to be confused with the Bruce Willis action flick Red or the Cillian Murphy thriller Red Eye, two similarly titled films Cox also appears in, the 2008 movie is based on the novel of the same name by Jack Ketchum.
The adaptation sees the Succession star play Avery ‘Ave’ Ludlow, an aging storekeeper in a small US town that has a dog named Red, who was a gift for his 50th birthday from his late wife.
One day, while fishing at a lake in peace, Ave is approached by two young brothers who try to rob him and wind up killing his dog.
As Ave seeks justice for Red’s death, he provokes the ire of the dog killers’ father (Tom Sizemore), a local powerful businessman.
Basically John Wick if it took place in the real world, Red boasts a typically brilliant central performance by Cox, a gripping cat-and-mouse story that gradually ramps up in tension and a string of very taut set-pieces.
Airing on TV tonight on the channel Legend Xtra at 9pm, the movie is also streaming on Prime Video.

Peppermint – Film4 – 11.50pm
Jennifer Garner is out for vengeance in this watchable vigilante action thriller from the director of Taken.
