Stephen Porzio

Red Rock West

It holds a 97% Rotten Tomatoes score.

Disney+ has just released one of 2023’s best mystery thriller shows but if you need more to watch this Wednesday evening, here are the movies airing on TV tonight.

Red Rock West – Legend – 9pm
Our pick for this evening is this 1993 movie starring Nicolas Cage as Michael, an unemployed ex-marine drifter who stumbles into a bar in the rural town of Red Rock, Wyoming where the owner (J.T. Walsh) mistakes him for the hitman he hired to kill his wife Suzanne (Lara Flynn Boyle).

With the owner offering the drifter $10,000 for the job, Michael plays along – taking half the cash up front before then telling Suzanne what her husband is planning. However, it isn’t long before the real killer (Dennis Hopper) shows up looking for his money.

Directed by the ’90s neo-noir king John Dahl (The Last Seduction, Rounders), Red Rock West is actually – alongside 2021’s Pig – Cage’s joint highest rated movie on Rotten Tomatoes with a 97% score.
