This superb refresher of the Planet of the Apes films will get you ready for war

A stellar series.

Paul Moore

We’re only a few days away from one of the year’s best films.

After seeing Rise of the Planet of the Apes, it’s highly unlikely that anyone would tell Caesar to “take your stinking paws off me, you damn dirty ape!” Such is the brilliance of the new Planet of the Apes trilogy, it’s incredibly difficult to empathise with any of the humans.

Granted, Will (James Franco) and Malcolm (Jason Clarke) wanted to love in peace with the apes, but the innate call to violence – in both man and simian – proved too difficult to maintain.

The new Planet of the Apes trilogy has really resonated with audiences around the globe because not only do they have breathtaking action – that battle between humans and apes on the Golden Gate Bridge and the Caesar vs Koba smackdown are stellar – but they’ve also got a level of intelligence that’s rarely seen in a summer blockbuster.

We’ve already told you about the stellar reviews that War for the Planet of the Apes has received, but if you need a quick refresher of how mankind’s conflict with the apes began, here’s a look.

Trust us, you’re not going to want to miss this war when it’s released on July 11th.
