Here’s your very first red-tinted look at Robert Pattinson as Batman

Batman Robert Pattinson

The first glimpse of the new Bat-suit and the man within.

Batman is one of those enduring heroes that we seemingly can’t get enough of.

As such, whenever a new one comes along it represents a seismic pop culture event. Enough time has passed that it’s probably fair to say that the Ben Affleck version didn’t work out anywhere near the way that we hoped it would, and thus we’re still waiting for a strong successor to Christian Bale’s caped crusader.

The casting of Robert Pattinson has proved divisive, but we have faith in the man after he worked hard to shake off the Twilight baggage with excellent performances in the likes of The Rover, The Lost City of Z and Good Time among others.

One stumbling block for people is whether or not Pattinson will look the part.

We don’t have our answer just yet, but thanks to Matt Reeves, director of the forthcoming The Batman – due in 2021 and also starring Colin Farrell, Paul Dano, Zoe Kravitz and Jeffrey Wright – we have our first official glimpse.

Taking to Twitter on Thursday night, Reeves shared a video of Pattinson’s camera test for the film, Bat-suit and all. This is very much a teaser, given that the footage is drenched in Daredevil-like red and black colour tones, but you get a decent idea.

Check it out below.
