Director Ron Howard talks about the mega A-list star that really wanted to be a secret stormtrooper in Solo

The director of Far & Away also tells us who had a better Irish accent: Tom Cruise or Nicole Kidman?

Ron Howard is a multi-Oscar winner and his movies have made billions at the box office.

He is the guy behind awards magnets like A Beautiful Mind, Apollo 13 and Frost/Nixon, but he also knows how to kick back and have some fun, like with The Grinch, Backdraft or Willow.

He is a man of many talents, so if you need a safe pair of hands to come in and take control of your project following the first directors leaving the project due to creative differences, then Howard is the guy to do it.

Which is exactly what happened on Solo: A Star Wars Story – you can read more about that here – but Howard still managed to turn in a fantastic space western, filled with great performances and hugely fun action sequences.

We were lucky enough to sit down with him in the lead-up to the movie’s release, and we covered everything from how difficult the transition between directors was, his time in Ireland directing Far & Away, and which very famous actor REALLY wanted to be a secret stormtrooper in the new movie.
