Sean O’Brien to take on Ryan Tubridy in what must be a world’s first TV challenge on the Late Late

Our money's on big Sean O'Brien.

A plough off. That’s right, a plough off.

Leinster and Ireland rugby star Sean O’Brien is renowned for his farming background; host of the Late Late Show Ryan Tubridy isn’t.

Which is why the Tullow Tank will be well fancied to come out on top when the pair of them come face to face in the first ever Late Late Plough Off live on RTÉ One on Friday night ahead of the Ploughing Championships in Screggan in Offaly later this month.

As well as schooling Tubs in the farming department, O’Brien will also sit down to discuss a brilliant Lions tour from his perspective and look ahead to the upcoming Autumn International series.

Continuing the farming theme, Anna May McHugh will be in studio to discuss how she took the National Ploughing Championships from humble beginnings to one of the biggest gatherings in Europe and what it was like to be a woman working in the male dominated world of farming when she first got involved.

Best-selling author Marian Keyes (35 million books sold, translated into 36 languages) will also be on to chat about her latest novel, The Break, about family, “himself” and surviving tough times.

Eddie Izzard will drop by to talk about his new film Victoria and Abdul, spending some of his early years in Ireland and his ambitions to enter politics at the next UK General Election.
