This is the show the creator of the Netflix hit left to make.
Considering House Of Cards was pretty much the show that put the streaming service on everyone's radar, it is probably fair to assume that producer Beau Willimon knows his way around hit TV shows.
Having dropped out of the show by Season 4, he moved on to a new project, and today we get our first look at it, the sci-fi drama The First.
He has drafted in Oscar-winner Sean Penn for his first regular TV series gig (his turn as Phoebe's weird boyfriend in Friends doesn't count!), and he will play one of the first astronauts to be sent to Mars, as part of humanity's first ever manned mission to the red planet.
Now, as anyone who has ever seen Mars feature in a movie - Red Planet, Mission To Mars, Mars Attacks!, The Martian, Total Recall - then we should expect this to not go particularly well for anyone involved, although while we might be expecting it to go towards a sci-fi/horror route, instead it seems to be taking on the serious dramatic stakes of giving up your life for such a mission.
The new show will arrive on Netflix competitor Hulu on Friday 14 September, which has aimed to release their platform in Europe before the year is out.
