Season 2 of Dead to Me will have “more secrets and more twists” than before

Paul Moore

Season 2 is coming soon.

For anyone that hasn’t seen the first season of Dead To Me yet, consider this to be your spoiler alert warning.

How do you solve a problem like Steve (James Marsden)?

Well, for Jen (Christina Applegate) and Judy (Linda Cardellini), they better get their ducks in a row because his body is floating in Jen’s pool and we’re fairly certain that one of them pulled the trigger.

Produced by Will Ferrell and Adam McKay (Anchorman and Step Brothers), season 1 of Dead To Me has proven to be a massive hit with Netflix viewers.

In case you haven’t seen it, the series is about a friendship that blossoms between Jen, a tightly wound widow, and Judy, a free spirit with a shocking secret.

Jen is determined to solve her husband’s recent hit-and-run murder, while Judy has also recently suffered her own tragic loss. When the two women meet at a support group, they become unlikely friends despite their polar opposite personalities.

Aside from being loved by audiences, Dead To Me is also a massive hit with the critics  – it holds an 87% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes – and during a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Linda Cardellini said that Season 2 will continue with the themes of mystery and intrigue.

“There are definitely going to be more secrets and more twists and turns, so we can count on that — I knew there was a twist in the first episode when I read the first season, but I didn’t realise how each episode would be, that the show would turn and twist as the season went on. So I’m really excited about that,” she said.

In a previous interview with TV Guide, her co-star Christina Applegate said that the new episodes are harder work to make.

“Holy crap! Liz ( Feldman – showrunner) went over what the season is going to look like. Oh hell. She said it’s going much harder work for me this season. I was depleted as a human being after last year. I plan on trying to laugh a lot between now and September [when filming on Season 2 will begin]. Really enjoy lightness,” she said.

Bring it on!
