Season 2 of The Sinner releases brand new footage and teases the gripping new murder mystery

The Sinner Season 2

The Sinner returns in August.

The good weather and the World Cup is in danger of keeping us in an eternal good mood. If only there was a macabre, intense and gruesome murder mystery to take over our lives.

Oh! Hello to Season 2 of The Sinner.

As previously reported, there’s no Cora this time around but Detective Ambrose is back in his rural New York hometown to solve an unsettling crime. What would drive an 11-year-old boy with no apparent motive to murder his own parents?

Fargo and Avengers: Infinity War star Carrie Coon arrives into the new season as Vera Walker, a character that has always been close to the boy in question, Julian (Elisha Henig).

Apparently, she been doing therapy work with him since he was born but after going out of her way to protect the young boy, it all backfires.

While there’s a new character and a new mystery, it’s clear that Detective Ambrose is still as conflicted and detached from the world as before.

Aside from this, we also get an extended look at the main murder mystery that’s going to form the narrative of Season 2.

The Sinner returns Wednesday, Aug. 1 at 10 p.m. on USA Network and while nothing official has been announced regarding an Irish release date, we fully expect Netflix to pick up the new episodes.

In case you previously missed it, here’s the full trailer for Season 2. We can’t wait.
