Tommy Tiernan Show

The best chatshow in Ireland is back very soon.

There are a litany of “Irish mammy sayings” that you can use on a daily basis but in an odd turn of events, there’s one that perfectly describes the wonderful appeal of The Tommy Tiernan Show.

“God gave you two ears to listen with and only one mouth to talk with for a reason.”

Granted, that might only be a saying that my mother uses, but since debuting in January 2017, the show has become a bonafide success and a large reason for its success is also a very simple one,  Tiernan really does listen to what his guests are saying.

Obviously, traits like empathy, warmth, quick-wit, compassion, charisma, intelligence, patience, curiosity, kindness, and extremely strong social skills help, but Tiernan’s ability to really focus on and listen to what his guests have to say is key.

Well, after excelling in his interviews with the likes of Christy Dignam, Paul McGrath, Fr. Brian D’Arcy, AP McCoy, Barry Keoghan and more, RTÉ has confirmed that the comedian will be back on Saturday, 4 January for a fourth season of his chat-show.

Once again, Tiernan will be him interviewing guests without any preparation or knowledge about who they might be.

The broadcaster has said that the new episodes will be “running on Saturday nights on RTÉ One, Tommy will be faced with a plethora of faces, and he may or very well may not have a clue as to who they are when he welcomes them to the stage. It’s a format where preparation really is is anything but key.”

We can’t wait.
