#TRAILERCHEST: Sorry To Bother You might just be the weirdest, most brilliant comedy of 2018

Rory Cashin

It feels very much like a spiritual sequel to Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind.

Welcome to #TrailerChest, where we’re taking a sneak peek at the brand new trailer for Sorry To Bother You.

Plot’s it all about?

Following in the footsteps of Get Out using racism as a medium for horror, Sorry To Bother You follows in a similar suit by using science fiction as a social commentary.

Our protagonist is Cassius “Cash” Green (Stanfeld), a regular guy trying to make ends meet, who takes up a job in a telemarketing job.

However, apparently nobody wants to buy anything over the phone they perceive to be black, and Green is told to try to use his “white voice” in order to sell more.

It turns out that he is a bit of a natural salesman once he taps into that power, and he is soon be vaulted up the career ladder, but the closer he gets to the top, the more he realises the people up there are not quite like the people down here.

The movie screened at the SXSW festival and was met with some rapturous reviews, which has placed it quite high on our Must Watch In 2018 list.

Starring: Tessa Thompson, Armie Hammer, Lakeith Stanfeld, Danny Glover, Patton Oswalt, Terry Crews, David Cross.

Directed by: Boots Riley

Irish release date: TBC, but we’d expect it not too long after the US release date of 6 July

Enjoy!
