We could be getting another spin-off with another new fighter.
The two Creed movies have made almost $400 million at the worldwide box office, along with huge critical acclaim, amassing their own die-hard fan-bases.
Across both of the movies, which focused on Michael B. Jordan's young fighter with Sly Stallone's aging trainer, viewers expected Rocky to be killed off in either one of them, but (SPOILER ALERT!) he isn't, and actually gets a lovely, emotional ending at the end of Creed II.
So it was pretty much common knowledge that Stallone was leaving the franchise there, however his most recent comments seem to indicate that he isn't done with Rocky, but maybe just with the Creed spin-off.
While in Cannes on the first promotional push for his upcoming action thriller Rambo V: Last Blood, Stallone was asked about his involvement in the future of the Creed franchise, and stated (via Deadline) that he already has an idea for a new spin-off:
"I have a great idea for Rocky. He finds this fella in the country illegally and it becomes a whole thing. It’s like the magician who lost his tricks. You’ve seen everything, but what can be different? Throw him out of the country, he’s in another world."
Sounds... topical?
We guess we'll know more for sure once Stallone goes head-first into the press tour for Rambo V, which is due for release in Irish cinemas this September.
Meanwhile, while on the press tour for Creed II, one of that movie's breakout stars Florian Munteanu hinted that his character Viktor Drago could be getting his own spin-off, too.
Check out his remarks on it here:
