Spoiler Alert: Plot details for True Detective season 2 are revealed

Alright, alright,, alright...

Alright, alright, alright…

If you are anything like JOE then you can barely have a conversation with your mates without being told what new TV shows to watch.

Simply put, there isn’t enough time in the day to fit in all these glorious TV shows, unless you give up on sleeping which is something that we are currently considering doing.

One show that we definitely will vouch for is the first season of True Detective starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson.

Season 1 was absolutely brilliant with the intricate crime unfolding around a back drop of the occult, danger and some heavy beer drinking.

JOE is ringing our loudest spoiler alert Klaxon right now. Look away if you don’t want to learn about season 2.

It seems that HBO is considering Mad Men’s Elisabeth Moss for the female lead along with Vince Vaughn.

The second season of True Detective will follow the death of Ben Caspar, a corrupt City Manager of a fictional California city who’s found brutally murdered amidst a potentially groundbreaking transportation deal that would forever change the freeway gridlock in California.

Three law enforcement officers from different cities and branches of the government are tasked with finding out who did it. They soon discover that their investigation has much broader and darker implications than they initially thought.

Caspar’s corpse is found on a lonely stretch of the highway near Big Sur – his eye burned out, genitals cut off and satanic symbols etched on his chest.

As mentioned, Mad Men’s Elisabeth Moss is marked to play Ani Bezzerides, one of the three law enforcers sent to investigate.

Described as “a tough, no-nonsense Monterey sheriff whose troubled upbringing has driven her to gambling and alcohol” it should appease those critics who said that the first season lacked strong female characters.

If the rumours are true, Vince Vaughn is set to play the show’s main character Frank Semyon.

A “former thug-turned-businessman” he’s connected with the local mayor and together with their cronies they’re trying to push forward the construction of rail links between South and North California and skim off the cash from federal grants.

On Semyon’s payroll is bent cop Ray Velcoro. Colin Farrell has been linked to the role and is set to play the “barely functioning coke-head” who has suffered “years of turmoil in both his personal and professional life” and is battling his ex-wife for custody of their son.

Friday Night Lights’ Taylor Kitsch is rumoured for the role of the third law enforcer.

Military veteran Paul Woodrugh has “seen his own share of violence and destruction” and is now a California Highway Patrol motorcycle officer.

When the series begins Woodrugh is “on leave after soliciting oral ex from a beautiful girl he pulls over for drunk driving”.

JOE thinks that those character bios alone are enough reason to watch it but we were already fans of Nic Pizzolatto’s series.

True Detective season 2 will start shooting later this year so you have plenty of time to catch up.

We recommend that you do .
