In a word, YES!

While every Marvel film has traces of its director's fingerprints, they're still genre films that have to follow a certain arc and aesthetic. After all, you don't get to the saga-ending brilliance of Avengers: Endgame without having an overall vision and grasp of the bigger picture.

However, when it comes to the case of the brilliant Thor: Ragnarok, Taika Waititi threw the rulebook out of the window and made a film that was not only hilarious, but uniquely his.

After making the wonderful Hunt for the Wilderpeople, Boy, What We do In The Shadows, and Eagle vs Shark, Waititi reinvigorated the Thor franchise with a film that's, well, bonkers.

Jeff Goldblum going full-Goldblum, orgy spaceships, The Hulk in a hot tub, *that* scene which featured 'Immigrant Song,' and a plethora of wonderful supporting characters that included the likes of Cate Blanchett, Karl Urban, and the brilliant Tessa Thompson are all prevalent.

It's undoubtedly one of the best films in the MCU because it's nuts. There's nothing that's quite like it.

All this without mentioning the best double-act in the MCU, Korg and Miek.

As stated previously, we think Waititi's take on the character that's made of rocks - but don't let that intimidate you - is the best supporting character in the whole MCU.

Well, it appears that the New Zealand filmmaker is stepping back into the MCU because The Hollywood Reporter has said that he's set to direct Thor 4.

Of course, after the events of Endgame, fans are incredibly excited to see the Guardians of the Galaxy team up with Thor, Miek, and Korg as they head off on an intergalactic adventure.

In fact, Chris Hemsworth has even said that he'd be up for seeing that particular group getting their own film and if it doesn't happen, we'll riot.

Sadly, this news means that Waititi is no longer attached to direct Akira but fans don't have to wait too long to see his next feature because Waititi's World War II satire in which he plays Hitler, Jojo Rabbit, is set for release on October 18 in the US.

At present, Jojo Rabbit is set for release on 3 January, 2020 in Ireland.

For anyone that needs a reminder of just how good Waititi was behind the camera on Ragnarok, check out JOE's interview with the talented director.
