Tarantino and Pitt to reunite for movie about the Manson Family murders

This could be Tarantino's second last film ever.

Could this be Tarantino’s second last movie he’ll ever direct?

For years, Tarantino has said that he’ll only direct ten movies in his career, and if this story by The Hollywood Reporter is true, then he’s already up to movie number nine.

Word has it that Tarantino is putting the finishing touches to his script about the Manson Family murders, the infamous clan who became infamous for a number of grizzly murders in the late 60s, as well as attempting to assassinate President Gerald Ford.

According to the report, Tarantino will be focusing on the story of Sharon Tate, the actress and wife of Oscar-winning director Roman Polanski (The Pianist, Chinatown, Rosemary’s Baby) who was murdered by Manson and his followers in 1969.

Apparently Tarantino has already approached his Inglorious Basterds lead Brad Pitt to take on one of the major roles, as well as talk of Jennifer Lawrence being involved in the project, possibly as Sharon Tate herself.

The script has yet to be finalised, but it would be Tarantino’s first time attempting something approaching “based on a true story” – yes, we know World War II really happened, but Hitler didn’t get the ending he got in Inglorious, so that doesn’t exactly count – but whether or not Tarantino would stick to the facts of the story, or go… y’know… all Tarantino-y on it, is yet to be seen.

Here’s hoping that the script doesn’t leak early like it did with The Hateful Eight, which very nearly derailed that entire project.
