Film and TV adaptations of video games have been a mixed bag to date but that hasn’t stopped Netflix from reportedly trying it once again with one of the most famous Nintendo games of them all.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Netflix are working on a live-action series for The Legend of Zelda, a game which has had many reincarnations on various Nintendo platforms over the years.

It has been adapted in animated and manga form in the past, but a TV series on a platform as big as Netflix is an entirely different kettle of fish so it will be interesting to see what’s in store.

The Wall Street Journal report references a source that describes the potential series as Game of Thrones for a family audience; Game of Thrones not being particularly family-friendly as all fans of the show will know.

Although Netflix are believed to be working closely with Nintendo on the project, they are still believed to be looking for a writer and it is thought to be a long way off.

The report even suggests that Nintendo or Netflix could decide to kill it off before it gets off the ground.

What’s next, Mario Kart the movie? Now that’s something we’d pay to see.
