Stephen Porzio

the kid detective

It has an 84% Rotten Tomatoes score.

Our movies on TV pick for tonight (Thursday, 22 February) is the 2020 mystery comedy noir The Kid Detective.

Adam Brody (Ready or Not, The O.C.) stars in the film as Abe Applebaum, a once-celebrated kid detective who now, age 31, “continues to solve the same trivial mysteries between hangovers and bouts of self-pity”.

“But a naive client (Sophie Nélisse, Yellowjackets) brings him his first adult case — to find out who brutally murdered her boyfriend,” its plot synopsis reads.

Holding an 84% Rotten Tomatoes, critics have praised the movie for its blend of character study and noir mystery, its compelling lead turn by Brody and its dark humour.

Airing on Film4 at 9pm on Thursday night, the film is also available to rent on Apple TV, Google Play, the Sky Store and Rakuten TV.
