Chris Cornell

Essential watching for music fans.

A new documentary about the life of Soundgarden and Audioslave frontman Chris Cornell is in the works, Variety have reported.

The film will be directed by Peter Berg (Friday Night Lights, Deepwater Horizon) and Cornell’s widow, Vicky, will be producing it.

Brad Pitt and Berg’s production company, Film 45, which will be making the feature of the beloved singer.

In terms of the grunge movement and the most iconic singers in the history of rock ‘n roll, Cornell’s work with the likes of Temple of the Dog, Soundgarden, and Audioslave is second to none.

Aside from this, he undoubtedly had one of the most unique and powerful voices in rock history.

After releasing some truly iconic albums with Soundgarden like Badmotorfinger and Superunknown, Cornell went on to front Audioslave with members of Rage Against the Machine. After that project ended, Cornell released a series of solo albums like Euphoria Morning and Carry On.

Soundgarden reunited in 2011 and during their reunion tour, the band played Dublin’s 3Arena. Sadly, the grunge icons were in the middle of touring when, on 18 May, 2017, Cornell died by suicide.

During his life, the gifted singer received 16 Grammy nominations and won three awards.

Variety have confirmed that a spokesperson for the Cornell estate has confirmed that the documentary is in the works but no other details have been provided.
