There’s good and bad news for fans of Gotham

Gotham

What do you want first? The good news or the bad news?

After a litany of cancellations (RIP Designated Survivor) and un-cancellations (Hallelujah Brooklyn Nine-Nine), another fan favourite has been added to the chopping block: Gotham.

But fans of the show shouldn’t despair. While the Batman-prequel series is coming to an end, it has been confirmed for one more season. Fans will get a fifth season to round off all the show’s unanswered questions and hopefully bring a satisfying conclusion to the story of Commissioner Gordon.

According to the producers “the fifth and final season will wrap up this unique origin story of the great DC Comics Super-villains and vigilantes, which revealed an entirely new chapter that has never been told.”

Unlike a lot of abrupt cancellations, Gotham will actually have the time to add some finality to the show… which would suggest that it’s unlikely any other network is going to pick it up. Gotham is currently made by Fox, the same studio that got rid of Brooklyn Nine-Nine before NBC came to the rescue.

According to Deadline, the show’s fifth and final season will run 13 episodes and focus on Said “Bruce Wayne’s transformation into the caped crusader.”

That’s good enough for us.
