Brooklyn Nine-Nine sixth season

Fantastic news for fans of the show.

Despite the fact that it’s the weekend, an Andy Samberg-shaped cloud was hanging over all of us with the news that Fox decided to pull the plug on Brooklyn Nine-Nine after the current fifth series.

What is it about really clever shows that just get cancelled – Arrested Development, Community, Firefly etc?

Anyways, after much speculation that the show would return, it’s now official because NBC has picked up Brooklyn Nine-Nine for a sixth season, the network announced Friday.

We also know that the sixth season will consist of 13 episodes.

As reported by Variety, the chairman of NBC Entertainment, Robert Greenblatt, said that “Ever since we sold this show to Fox I’ve regretted letting it get away, and it’s high time it came back to its rightful home. Mike Schur, Dan Goor, and Andy Samberg grew up on NBC and we’re all thrilled that one of the smartest, funniest, and best cast comedies in a long time will take its place in our comedy line-up.”

After the news broke that the show’s future was in jeopardy, a quick Twitter search for the hashtags #SaveB99 and #RenewB99 will show you just how much love there is for the show.

Well, we’re delighted to see one of the sharpest and most original comedies in years continuing.
