Tom Hardy on being the next James Bond: “I’d smash it out of the park”

He wants the job...

JOE

Tom Hardy has smashed a lot of things in his career; Batman as Bane, prison guards as Bronson, cars in Mad Max, brother Reggie Kray in Legend.

So when he says he would smash playing James Bond, we’ve got to start taking his word for it.

When asked if he was up to the role of the famous  spy, the actor says if he was given the chance he would “smash it out of the park.”

The actor, 38, is the current bookies’ favourite to replace Daniel Craig ahead of Idris Elba should Spectre be his last outing as 007.

Speaking to the Evening Standard, he said: “I would love to do it. Who wouldn’t? If I did get the chance, I would smash it out the park.”

But he thinks spy hopefuls like him will have to wait a but longer.

“I believe Daniel will do one more. He, [director] Sam Mendes, [producers] Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson are an amazing team and have really got it cracked. Why would they want to break up that winning formula?”
