Disney CEO, Bob Iger, announced earlier this year he had plans to commission a fifth instalment of the beloved movie franchise Toy Story and it seems the wheels are turning.
While a spinoff flick Lightyear was released, with Chris Evans voicing Buzz, it looks like we’ll have a return to the original duo of Tim Allen and Tom Hanks.
Tim Allen appeared on The Tonight Show recently and confirmed both he and Tom have been contacted by Disney for what sounds like Toy Story 5 – and we are freaking out.
Speaking to Jimmy Fallon, the actor said “one of the creators of the original series” is behind the film’s script, although he didn’t drop any names.
Tim Allen confirms contact made over new Toy Story film
Speaking to host Jimmy Fallon, Tim Allen said: "Bob Iger, head of Disney, said it was on and actually said it was going to happen."
The 70-year-old added: "They have reached out to Tom and I to reprise the roles. They’re not saying anything about it… You wonder if four was too many. Is five going to be too much?
"According to the scuttlebutt, the writer that’s doing it wrote one of the better ones and said, ‘If I didn’t get this right, I wouldn’t do it.’ It could be a very, very interesting way to reunite it."
The actor, who voices Buzz, previously confirmed he’d return to the role in Toy Story 5. In February, the actor wrote on X: “See ya soon Woody, you are a sad strange little man and you have my pity. And off we go to a number 5! To infinity and beyond!”

Right now, it’s unclear if Tom Hanks will return to voice Woody in the fifth instalment, as the actor hasn’t confirmed his involvement.
On top of this, the ending of Toy Story 4 appeared to close a chapter in the franchise that could see Woody not return at all.
We won’t start crying about this though until we hear it from the man behind the toy cowboy himself.
