TRAILER: The cast of Derry Girls doing Bake Off looks like an absolute riot

Derry Girls Bake Off

Set record because this is going to be cracker.

Throughout the history of Derry Girls, the gang’s plans are rarely successful.

For example, they missed David’s gig after getting detention, Michelle and her flaming shots destroyed Fionnula’s chipper, their vision of the smirking Virgin Mary turned out to be complete bollocks, Erin’s stint as the school magazine’s editor was a disaster, and that’s just the events of Season 1!

Well, in real life, the cast of Lisa McGee’s wonderful comedy are far less destructive than their characters but the proof will be in the pudding when the cast of Derry Girls go back to school – well, culinary school – when they take part in the special edition of The Great Festive Bake Off on New Year’s Day.

In terms of an official synopsis, Channel 4 state that: “Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig host a special celebrity edition featuring the cast of Derry Girls for the second of this year’s Christmas specials.

“Saoirse-Monica Jackson (Erin), Nicola Coughlan (Clare), Jamie-Lee O’Donnell (Michelle), Dylan Llewellyn (James) and Siobhan McSweeney (Sister Michael) will be cooking up some New Year-inspired bakes to impress judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood and be crowned Star Baker. With music from the London Gospel Community Choir.”

We wonder if any of them are going to be tempted to bake a cream horn? Granda Joe would be very proud of them if they did!

Also, we curious who’s going to be crowned the Star Baker?

If they’re anything like their characters, we’d make Nicola Coughlan the favourite!

The Great Festive Bake Off starts at 7.40 pm on New Year’s Day.

Take a look at what’s in store.

Nicola Coughlan even provided viewers with a small behind the scenes sneak peak at what’s in store.

We’re certain that this edition of Bake Off will go down a treat.
