Plot's it all about?
This is pretty much high concept at it's highest, with a big sci-fi looking satelitte system set up in the Earth's atmosphere to stop any storms from getting too big and dangerous. From the looks of things, it malfunctions (who didn't see THAT coming??) and results in a storm so big and planet consuming it could result in the end of mankind. If only some Scottish guy could save us all...?
The cinematic directorial debut of the guy who helped make Independence Dayand the 1998 version of Godzilla, so he clearly knows a thing or two about mass destruction. Plus it has definitely got a feel of The Day After Tomorrow and 2012 about it, and they are the ultimate turn-brain-off and watch-stuff-explode movies.
Plus this one has something those movies didn't have. Gerard God Damn Butler!
Starring: Gerard Butler, Abbie Cornish, Ed Harris, Andy Garcia, Robert Sheehan
Directed by: Dean Devlin
Irish release date: 20 October
Enjoy!
