#TRAILERCHEST: Pixar celebrate the Day Of The Dead with the visually-stunning Coco

Rory Cashin

“Welcome! Anything to declare?” “As a matter of fact…”

Welcome to #TrailerChest, where we’re taking a sneak peek at the brand new trailer for Coco.

Plot’s it all about?

The Day Of The Dead is a massive celebration in Mexico (November 2 if you’re thinking of heading over!), and Pixar and Disney’s latest animated epic is looking at bringing to life… pun intended.

Coco tells the story of 12 year old boy who sets in motion a series of events that causes him to get lost in the land of the dead, and must find a way to get back to his living family friends, with the help of his, uhm, dead family and friends.

While the very-good-but-underseen 2014 movie The Book Of Life covered some of the same ground, as you can see from the imagery in the trailer below, that trademark Pixar uniqueness is very much present.

With a stellar Mexican voice-cast, as well as the directors of Toy Story 3 and Finding Nemo behind the camera computer screens, you can expect it to be a front-runner for Best Animated Feature come next year’s Oscar race.

Speaking of next year, while those in the US will get to enjoy the movie from November, we’ve got to wait a full two months more before we get to clamp our peepers on it.

Starring: Gael Garcia Bernal, Benjamin Bratt, Cheech Marin, Edward James Olmos, Alanna Ubach.

Directed by: Lee Unkrich, Adrian Molina

Irish release date: 19 January 2018

Enjoy!
