#TRAILERCHEST: Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark is definitely going to give us nightmares

scary stories to tell in the dark

This summer looks scary.

Welcome to #TrailerChest, where we’re taking a sneak peek at the brand new trailer for Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark.

Plot’s it all about?

We should have known the second we found out that Oscar-winner Guillermo Del Toro was involved that this was going to be a messed up scary movie.

Del Toro had a hand in the screenplay for the adaptation of the iconic series of novels (think Goosebumps, but darker and, well, scarier), and is also on board as producer for this twisted take from the director of the brilliant Trollhunter (a brilliant, underseen movie – seek it out) and The Autopsy Of Jane Doe (ditto).

While his new movie features some recognisable faces, like Bellows (The Shawshank Redemption) and Norris (Breaking Bad), this will actually revolve around a series of mostly new teen actors, who discover the abandoned home a young girl with horrible secrets, who decided to manifest those horrors into a reality and terrify anyone and everyone around her.

So we’re going to get a series of set-pieces – that scarecrow, or that hospital monster, or that girl with the thing in her face! – that will make sure we’ll never really know what to expect next.

Starring: Zoe Margaret Colletti, Michael Garza, Austin Zajur, Gil Bellows, Dean Norris

Directed by: André Øvredal

Irish release date: TBC, but the US release is Friday 9 August, so we shouldn’t be too much longer after that

Enjoy!
