#TRAILERCHEST: The spectacular trailer for Disney’s live action The Lion King has arrived

Paul Moore

The Lion king

Hakuna matata.

After reviving The Jungle Book with the excellent live action version of the classic tale, Iron Man director Jon Favreau is now back to adapt another classic Disney story.

You could say that his circle of filmmaking life is now complete. Then again, the dude is going off to make the new Star Wars TV show after this, so he’s going to be kept pretty busy.

First up though is this new version of a bona fide animation classic and the first trailer has just been released.

Truth be told, the sound of James Earl Jones’ voice is enough to make us giddy and as for the music, well, just wait until it kicks in.

Are you ready to be an emotional wreck?

Plot’s it all about? You know what to expect. A magical trip to the African savanna where a future king must overcome betrayal and tragedy to assume his rightful place on Pride Rock.

Cast: Donald Glover as Simba, Beyonce as Nala, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, Alfre Woodard as Sarabi, John Oliver as Zazu, John Kani as Rafiki, Florence Kasumba as Shenzi, Eric André as Azizi, and Billy Eichner and Seth Rogen as Timon and Pumbaa. JD McCrary and Shahadi Wright Joseph will play young Simba and young Nala, respectively.

Director: Jon Favreau.

Release date: 19 July 2019.

Bring it on!
