Seventeen years after the original Super Troopers, the sequel is arriving in theaters this summer and all of the gang are back. In the aftermath of the first film, the insane antics of the Vermont state troopers became a firm cult favourite around the world and the sequel has a fantastic story behind it.
After Fox Searchlight agreed to release the sequel if the $2 million fundraising goal was met, the most amazing thing happened.
The film’s crowdfunding campaign ended up raising $4.4 million — that’s the second-most successful crowdfunding campaign ever for a film. With this in mind, it’s clear that there’s a lot of love for our beloved Super Troopers and here’s what’s in store for the sequel.
Plot’s it all about?: Everyone’s favourite law enforcement team is back. When an international border dispute arises between the U.S. and Canada, the Super Troopers – Mac, Thorny, Foster, Rabbit and Farva, are called in to set up a new Highway Patrol station in the disputed area. Unconventional police work follows, and the result is absolute carnage.
