It looks like one of the best horror movies of the decade is getting a sequel

All aboard…

Has it been a vintage decade for horror?

Hmm… not quite. Have there been some good to great to excellent offerings?

Yes, very much so.

On our shortlist we’d champion the likes of The Guest, The Witch, The Neon Demon, I Saw The Devil, The Invitation, Raw, Cabin In The Woods, It Follows, The Babadook and Get Out.

The much-hyped Hereditary suffered from a dreadful third act and one of the worst performances in recent memory from Alex Wolff, so no, it doesn’t make the cut.

Another one that does is the fantastic Train to Busan.

We’ve banged on about just how great the 2016 South Korean zombie apocalypse chiller is recently, with our own Rory Cashin gushing about how terrifying and claustrophobic and strangely moving it all is.

Seriously, it’s great. Watch it.

And don’t leave it too long, because it appears that a sequel is on the way.

AllKPop quote a source close to director Yeon Sang-ho as saying that the follow-up is in the very early stages of development:

“We are planning to begin filming in the first half of next year. We still have not cast any actors, so we are still preparing a lot of different things.”

While an unnamed source might not be the strongest proof to go on, it’s worth noting that Train to Busan was a huge worldwide smash, making over $93 million worldwide.

What’s more, an American remake is on the way, so it’d be nice to get a continuation of the first chapter before Hollywood inevitably messes it up.

Much like The Wire, all the pieces fit here. Will it be as good as the original, though?
