Video: Check out the new action-packed trailer for Keanu Reeves’ samurai film, 47 Ronin

It's cool because it's got loads of fighty and hitty bits in it.

Keanu ‘woah man’ Reeves stars in the action-packed new trailer for 47 Ronin as Neo Kai, an outcast who joins a group of Ronin (leaderless samurai) to help them avenge the death and dishonour of their Master.

It’s nuts to think that 47 lads called Ronin would all hang around together in the first place.

Although Universal are releasing this as a fantasy action film, the actual story of the ‘Revenge of the 47 Ronin’ is really based on an 18th Century Japanese true tale, so JOE reckons that the cool bits with the huge-mungous dragons and evil, sexy witches might just be made up.

We’ve never been to Japan though so we could be wrong.

This new trailer is more action-packed than the first clip released, with the studio possibly anxious to show audiences just how much they’ve spent on their impressive CGI sequences (supposedly a whopping $225 million). Rumours though that most of that CGI budget has gone towards digitally enhancing Reeves’ performance in order to make him look in some way decent onscreen are, at this, point, unconfirmed.

As with the original trailer, it’s clear to see so many of the influences that have gone into the making of the film, with particular moments and visuals from Lord of the Rings, Star Wars and The Matrix all immediately springing to mind – in fact, Lord of the Matrix Wars was (probably not) an original working title.

And, now that we think of it, there’s plenty of 300 is in there too actually. Except, minus 253 of course…

Check it out in all it’s action splendour:
