VIDEO: Check out the Red Band trailer for Spike Lee’s (probably unecessary) remake of Oldboy

Why couldn't Spike just Lee the original alone? Bad pun. Sorry.

The Yankers over in Hollywood have had a tendency of late to only release films that are prequels, sequels, reboots, re-imaginings and remakes of other films.

This ridiculously uncreative trend continues as we check out the first Red Band trailer for Spike Lee’s American remake of the absolutely brilliant 2003 South Korean thriller, Oldboy.

Oldboy’s not even that old yet! You could have at least waited until it’s Oldman before you start tarnishing its good name you berts.

Anyway, we really don’t want to give too much away as the story itself is excellent. At first glance though, it seems that Lee’s version starring Josh Brolin as the man mysteriously held in captivity for 20 years is unsurprisingly very similar to Park Chan-wook’s original.

Why Spike Lee? Why?

Samuel L. Jackson, Sharlto Copley and Elizabeth Olsen all co-star and we also get a few sneak peeks of THAT hammer scene.

Ouch.
