A five and a half minute clip of a GTA movie called ‘Grand Theft Auto: Give Me Liberty’ has surfaced online opening up speculation for a full-length film.

Sam Sabawi, CEO/Director at Sunblock Studios, posted the short to YouTube this week and it’s a good look at what a live-action GTA movie might look like. While the short looks quite good there are a few tell tale signs that it’s not going to be hitting cinemas anytime soon, such as the dodgy CGI helicopter and some below par acting from the blonde girl driving the black car near the end (no offence).

Furthermore, few months ago, Rockstar co-founder Dan Houser told the The Guardian’s Matt Hill, “We’ve been offered, many times [to do a movie], and it’s never appealed. The money’s never been close to be worth risking one’s crown jewels. Our small dabblings with Hollywood have always left us running back to games.

“There’s still plenty of kudos in doing a film, but you shouldn’t ever do anything in your life for kudos. It’s much easier to imagine GTA as a TV series, as the form is closer, but I still think we’d be losing too much to ever actually do it.”

So while this is a pretty decent attempt at a GTA movie from an indie production company in the US, we can rest assured that a legit Grand Theft Auto film from Rockstar is only a pipe dream. Still, lets hope the lads Sunblock Studios can find a few investors so that they can finish off ‘Grand Theft Auto: Give Me Liberty’.
