One of the number of excellent sketches that featured in the last episode of the most recent series of Second Captains Live earlier this week.

On his way to becoming the self-professed ‘Quiz God’ he is today, Ciaran Murphy of Second Captains first had to dip his toes into the most pressurised environment known to participants of secondary school quizzes in the 1990s; we’re talking, of course, about Blackboard Jungle.

Together with his brother John and a St. Jarlath’s teammate with a seemingly unhealthy obsession for all things New Zealand, Murph managed to take down the might of The High School Rathgar in an appearance on the show that he recalled in a special one-off segment titled ‘Behind the Blackboard’ that aired on Second Captains Live earlier this week.

A thoroughly enjoyable segment, it’s particularly worth watching for Murph’s smug satisfaction at answering one particular question, the brilliant contribution of the Rathgar participant and the moment when the Rathgar lads lost their discipline, which proved crucial to Jarlath’s emerging victorious in the end.

More of the same in the next series please Murph.
